Summerfest officials have just announced a schedule change to the BMOHarris Pavilionlineup. Gavin DeGraw will now headline June 26 and Foreigner will headline July 6. The lineup below has been updated to reflect the changes.
Summerfest officials Friday morning revealed the final main stage headliner lineup for this year’s Big Gig, announcing forthcoming performances at the BMO Harris Pavilion from LL Cool J, Foreigner, Dispatch, Alice Cooper, plus new lineup additions Cody Simpson, the Zombies and Jimmy Eat World.
The BMO Harris Pavilion headliner lineup, and release dates and times for the “blue circle” seats, is as follows:
Cody Simpson, 2 p.m. July 3: The teen, Australian heartthrob – managed by Justin Bieber guru Scooter Braun – sent girls shrieking as Big Time Rush’s Summerfest opener last year, and that was before the release of his debut full-length album “Paradise.” Fellow poster boy pop singer Ryan Beatty opens. (Ticketmaster release: noon May 11; onsite release: noon July 3).
This summer, Cody Simpson will return with the follow-up to his 2012 debut “Paradise,” and the July release on Atlantic Records will be led by the happy-go-lucky single “Pretty Brown Eyes.” Although the 16-year-old released an official music video for the song last month, that clip only featured one Cody Simpson — this alternate video, dubbed the “MPC Version,” has two of them tackling the summer anthem. Watch the new video exclusively on Billboard.com above.
The stripped-down video came together when Simpson was in the studio working on his next album with his manager, Matt Graham. “I was working on a song and I got a bit of writer’s block,” says Simpson. “I saw the MPC [music production controller] in the studio and commented about how not that many producers still use them.”
After 15 minutes, Simpson had cracked the MPC’s code, and started messing around with “Pretty Brown Eyes” on the production machine. “After I figured it out, I turned to my videographer, Florent Dechard, who was in the studio documenting the day, and asked if he could film me recording the MPC and playing my guitar and sync them,” says Simpson. “Being the genius he is, he told me that he could do it easily.”
Thus, the MPC Version of “Pretty Brown Eyes” was born, with two Cody Simpsons complementing one another while rollicking through the new single. And what would Simpson do if he actually was cloned? “Probably send one of my selves to the studio to handle my recording, so that my other self could go surfing with my mates,” Simpson says.
Simpson recently performed a medley of “Pretty Brown Eyes” and “Awake All Night” at the Radio Disney Music Awards, and will hit the road later this month on the Paradise Tour, which kicks off on May 30 in Jacksonville, Fla.
It’s a good thing Selena and Justin have reunited! Justin’s tour mate, Cody Simpson explained to HollywoodLifeEXCLUSIVELY that he’s so thrilled to see the couple back together — especially because of the positive effect Selena has on the Biebs. Keep reading for more details!
If there’s anyone who knows what Justin Bieber was feeling and who witnessed firsthand how he was acting after Selena Gomez split up with him in December 2012 it’s Cody Simpson, who opened for Justin on his “Believe” tour. And Cody wholeheartedly believes that Justin and Selena’s reunion is for the best, especially in Justin’s case.
Selena Gomez: ‘A Great Influence’ On Justin Bieber
“It’s good to see that Justin and Selena are back together”,
Cody told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY at the Radio Disney Music Awards on April 27. Cody explains that Selena really rubs off on Justin and makes him a better guy.
“She’s always been a great influence on him,” Cody says. “She’s amazing every time I’ve met her when I’m with him. She’s a super sweet girl,” he adds.
Cody’s just like the rest of us — glad to see Jelena working things out:
“I’m happy for them,” he concludes.
Justin Bieber: Melting Down Without Selena Gomez
It’s hard to argue with Cody’s point about Selena’s positive effects on Justin. In the months after he and Selena split up, he took on a noticeably different, “bad boy” persona.
It started off lightly with Justin just taking off his shirt a little more, but things quickly escalated. He was involved in a drug scandal, he was accused of assaulting his neighbor, and he actually collapsed on stage in the middle of a concert (that one might not be his fault though). And oh yeah, he visited the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam on April 13 and wrote that he hoped Anne “would have been a belieber.”
I had the pleasure of having Cody Simpson stop by out studio for a fun round of last questions! We will find out what Cody did last night, who received his last text from and much more.
Also be sure to check out Cody’s new tour kicking off on May 30th in Jacksonville, FL and wrapping up on July 27th in Denver. And if you are hoping for new music from Cody he has a new single “Pretty Brown Eyes” out new and will have a new album out this summer. Keep up with Cody on his offical website and see all of his tour dates here! #musicrules.
